I know what you’re thinking… “prune crumble? prunes? In a crumble?” Yes, prunes in a crumble are absolutely delicious. Imagine deep, dark, sticky sweet fruits all served up with creamy vanilla custard. It really is comforting and moreish, despite its syrupy sweetness.
Although it is almost definitely the wrong time of year to be serving up this pudding, I had been promising my boyfriend for a couple of years now that he would love it (he wasn’t convinced) and with some time on my hands a few weeks ago, I decided to go for it.
My Nan first made me Prune Crumble. I remember eating it at her dining room table as a kid and going back for seconds. I don’t have a particularly sweet tooth, but this was so delectable. The rich, dark prunes topped with sweet brown sugar crumble was so tasty, and my Granddad’s custard poured on top was heavenly.
Once made, myself and my partner devoured the crumble – and to my delight, he went back for more! Do give this one a go if you’re intrigued, it really is a winner.
Thanks Nan for this one x
